The Association has in place a comprehensive Constitution that governs the activities of all arms of the Association. At the apex of the Association’s Administrative Structure is the General Assembly that meets once a year but can also meet more times should there be a need for more than one such meeting. Meetings are held by rotation in Member countries.
There is, under the General Assembly, the Governing Council, which sits as a Board of Directors and meets at least twice a year. This Body is elected by the Annual General Meeting (made up of all members). The Governing Council, in session, selects and appoints the Chief Executive Officer of the Association, namely the Secretary General and the Secretary General is appointed by the General upon the recommendation of the Governing Council. The Secretary General is the administrative and technical head of the Association and makes mandatory reports, in person to the Governing Council, about the activities of the Association.
One major item of the agenda of the Association’s Annual General Assembly Meeting is the presentation of the Audited Accounts. As such the Secretariat must facilitate the presentation of a set of financial statements for the year being reviewed, which statements must have been audited by external, independent auditors
